- Within 2 hours, remove the bandage.
- Wash the tattooed area gently but thoroughly with warm water and liquid soap.
- Rinse well, then pat dry with a clean towel.
- Apply ointment sparingly to the tattooed area and rub it in gently. (Use either vitamin A and D ointment or Webber vitamin E ointment.)
- Wipe off any excess ointment with a clean paper towel. The area should feel moist but breathable, not coated.
- Do not re-bandage.
- Repeat the process twice daily but always remember to wash the area before re-applying the ointment.
- Your tattoo should heal within 10 days but may need moisturizer for a few days longer.
We supply packets of ointment for our customers
- Be sure to keep the area clean, this includes making sure all clothing and bed sheets are freshly laundered.
- Stay out of saunas, hot tubs, pools and baths. Showers are fine but you cannot submerge your tattoo under water.
- Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight until its healed; this includes tanning salons as well. Wear light, loose clothing on the tattooed part of the body.
- If you exercise or sweat during any of you activities, be sure to wash the area afterwards and re-apply the ointment.
- Keep the pierced area clean and dry.
- Never use rubbing alcohol, peroxide or any kind of cream (like Polysporin) on your piercing
- Wash with liquid soap and warm water twice daily. Be sure to wash the jewellery as well, but DO NOT remove it.
- If after 3 to 4 days the piercing still seems red and irritated, then you may use a mild skin cleanser such as bactine (mixed half half with water), saline solution (salt water mixture) or, benzalkonium chloride (available free of charge to our customers).
- Continue treatment until piercing is completely healed (about 6 to 8 weeks in most cases).
- Rinse three times daily with non-alcoholic mouthwash
- If you cannot find non-alcoholic mouthwash, you can use regular mouthwash mixed half and half with water, or two tablespoons of salt mixed in with a 500 ml bottle of water.
- Avoid drinking beverages that contain yeast (such as beer) or bacterial cultures (such as yogurt) until the piercing has completely healed (about 4 to 6 weeks).
- Use all of the above methods where possible, but also use common sense. Never use chemical cleaning agents on internal wounds.
