Exterior piercings
(i.e. Nose, Navel, Ear, Eyebrow, Nipple...)

  • Keep the pierced area clean and dry.
  • Never use rubbing alcohol, peroxide or any kind of cream (like polysporin) on your piercing.
  • Wash with liquid soap and warm water twice daily. Be sure to wash the jewellery as well but don’t remove it.
  • If after 3 or 4 days the piercing still seems red and irritated then you may use a mild skin cleanser such as bactine (mixed half and half with water), saline solution (salt water mixture) or, benzalkonium chloride (available free of charge if for our customers).
  • Continue treatment until piercing is completely healed (about 6 to 8 weeks in most cases).
for piercings inside the mouth...

  • Rinse three times daily with non-alcoholic mouthwash.
  • If you cannot find non alcoholic mouthwash you can use regular mouthwash mixed half and half with water or, 2 tablespoons of salt mixed in with a 500 ml bottle of water.
  • Avoid drinking beverages that contain yeast (such as beer) or bacterial cultures (such as yogurt) until the piercing is completely healed (about 4 to 6 weeks).
for piercings that include both internal and external surfaces
(such as lip, labret, Monroe, Pixie...)

  • Use all of the above methods where possible but also use common sense, never use chemical cleaning agents on internal wounds.

Remember: your body is trying to heal your piercing as well. Don’t over wash, or use chemical cleaning agents unless needed.

Aftercare

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR NEW ANCHOR PIERCINGS!!

THEY CAN EASILY BE PULLED OUT DURING THE FIRST FEW DAYS!!

  • Keep clean and dry for the first 3-4 hours.
  • If possible, carefully submerge the pierced area in a bath of Epsom Salts for about 10 minutes once daily for the first week.
  • Pat gently twice daily with a “BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE ANTISEPTIC TOWELETTE” (We supply several to you before you leave).
  • NEVER use alcohol, peroxide, bactine or any cream of any kind on your dermal anchor!!
  • DO NOT RUB, PUSH OR PULL ON YOUR DERMAL ANCHOR!!!
  • In most cases the swelling will come and go within a week to 10 days. The piercing will appear healed but will require special attention for at least another 4 to 6 weeks.

IF YOUR DERMAL ANCHOR COMES OUT...

IN MOST CASES (IF YOU CAN FIND THE JEWELERY) YOU CAN SIMPLY CLEAN THE JEWELERY WITH RUBBING ALCOHOL, DRY IT OFF THEN RUB A TINY AMOUNT OF VASELINE OVER THE HOLE AND PRESS THE JEWELERY BACK INTO THE HOLE.
